Guy Harvey (b. 1960) is a British born photographer living in Iowa for the last 25 years.
Since taking up digital photography in the early 2000s, his primary focus has been photographing his home town of Fairfield. Over 15 years he photographed Fairfield’s historic and not so historic architecture. This has formed a body of work called Fairfield Iconic, which demonstrates Guy’s strong propensity to capture dramatic color, lines and forms in the sometimes mundane. It has been said that he makes Fairfield look more beautiful than it really is, however it’s just his ability to capture scenes in a perfect light. He waited years sometimes to capture certain landmarks. His current focus is on long term projects on street life in Fairfield and also documenting the disappearing architecture of small towns in South East Iowa.
He has published two books: Fairfield Iowa: A Color Image Galley (2013) and A Year in South East Iowa (2023). Recent exhibitions include Vedic City Pandits, a sole exhibit at the Crest Jewel in Fairfield Iowa (2025) and Celebrating the Art of Photography a group exhibit at the Fairfield CoLab in Iowa (2025). He received a judges award for his photograph Church at the Fairfield Art Associations Member’s Exhibit in 2024.
